INTERMOUNTAIN RAILWAY CO. SD45-2 REVIEW
INTERMOUNTAIN RAILWAY CO. SD45-2 REVIEW
I have finally gotten a chance to get some run time on my Intermountain Railway SD45-2's. At first glance the paint is nice and the lettering is crisp.
A closer look at this model shows problems though. There is a gap behind the cab between the long hood that is quite noticable. The sunshades a thick
and the installation of the shades feels flimsey. The press fit into the large slot leaves no room for replacement with a BLMA or Gold Medal sunshade
without filling and repainting.
This model runs just ok with the speed being the issue for me. I like slow speed control but I feel the gearing on this model is too slow. This is only
a preference for me though. This model is also noisey.
This model is good overall but could use some improving. It still rates a 4 on the Kato scale.
